Why St. Augustine?

We see our students’ gifts as given by God and therefore take responsibility for returning them to God fully developed. Because the intellectual growth of our students is a spiritual imperative, Holy Redeemer implements best practices in teaching and learning that result in significant gains for students.

Holy Redeemer provides a Catholic education of the highest quality within a safe and nurturing environment. We seek to engage your children both intellectually and spiritually, putting them on the path to College and Heaven.

Our school provides a challenging, faith-filled, educational experience that serves as the foundation for a life lived in service to Jesus, the Church, and Community. As part of a nationwide network of high-performing Catholic schools, St. Augustine is an NAICS School.

Catholic Identity

But Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Matthew 19:14

St. Augustine Indian Mission incorporates a strong Catholic identity in all aspects of the school day.  Students in grades K-8 participate in an all School Mass once a week.  Our students also help in the preparation and service of the Mass itself.

Catholic values and religious practices are taught daily. A complete religion curriculum is in place to support and assist staff members in their teachings through the School of Faith program through the Omaha Archdiocese.

Staff is supported by monthly School of Faith sessions that help our teachers model the faith to our students.  Morning prayer and end of the day prayer are led by students and prayed school-wide over the intercom.  Students begin and end each day welcoming the Lord in their hearts and end of the day by thanking God for the gifts they receive from Him.

Students are also given opportunities to participate in school service projects sponsored by our Home & School organization, by the Student Council or through individual class projects inspired by generous hearts.

All members of the faculty are working towards degrees, and a few hold Master’s Degrees. All faculty have the experience to implement the best practices in the classroom.

About the American Indian Catholic Schools Network

As the Network matures and builds capacity, it will be well positioned to take advantage of future growth opportunities, such as expanding the Network to include other like-minded mission schools and attracting additional funders. The Network will have a powerful story to tell and accomplishments to “sell,” including the following: 1) a solid foundation on which to continue building (Vision, Core Values, Guiding Principles); 2) implementation of at least one major initiative that builds the capacity of individual schools and the Network, possesses measurable outcomes, and is designed to be replicable at other mission schools (the newly launched Professional Development Initiative); and 3) A custom-designed website that supports regular communications among Network members, and parents and teachers, and serves as an internal repository for shared academic-focused knowledge that upholds and supports traditional mission-school values.

We are Always Learning

American Indian Catholic Schools Network leaders and teachers are committed to continuous professional and spiritual growth.
  • Teacher Leader Formation: Notre Dame faculty annually provide numerous hours of responsive professional formation to each teacher.
  • Faith Formation: Annual retreats for teachers and leaders reignite zeal for our shared purpose of making God known, loved, and served.
